We live in a small town Mikkeli which is located in Eastern part of FINLAND; 230 km to North from Helsinki (capitol of Finland). Russian border is less than 200 km from us, to Turku it is 350 km and to Oulu 450 km with a car. My husband Matti and I share our house with three bobtails and one coton de tulear and sometimes we have puppies... :)
Also our children have dogs; Annika (in the photo) has an english bulldog ´Sally´ (dob 20.3.2009) which we co-own together with her and her husband Esa, our oldest son Mika withe his wife Raakel have one bobtail B. Best Of Course (born 14.6.2010).
Our dogs live together with us in the same building - they do not have any separated kennelhouses etc - and puppies are raised within the family. Most of our dogs are co-owned as for my opinion is much less stressful when we have a smaller group of dogs with us. AND I am so blessed to have so many dear friend and relatives who share our "kids" with us :))
When I was a little girl I dreamed to have a dog of my own, but I never got one... When we get married and our children were born (1975, 1982, 1984) we had our first purebred OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG Sanysahara (1986). I was never supposed to become a breeder but somehow it turned like this and 22nd breeding year is going on...
Later on, 1995, we had a coton de tulear female, Ceetan Galaxy Of Tirri,
who is our foundation bitch and she past away at age of 14½. At the moment
we have one coton de tulear (2005) at home and some are co-owned within
good families.
Blockhead´s as a kennelname - some may think what a funny name to call dogs, but when they see our dogs they know why... :) It doesn´t mean stupid of silly, it really is a "petname" for these two lovely breeds! When I wanted to have a name for our breeding I thought "It must remain somehow of the breed" - in a funny way. First name I picked was Funny Fellows but it was allready taken by someone else, second one was Blockhead´s which was based on a serie back to 1930th in Cinemas - this was later shown in TV as a black & white serie. Well, I got the name Blockhead´s and the rest is history...
